Department of Photonics Engineering

Our history goes all the way back to 1998 where the Research Center COM was founded as a merger between the Photonics Groups of the Microelectronic Center and the Centre for Broadband Telecommunication at the Department of Electromagnetic Systems, both at DTU.

Today the department is called DTU Fotonik and is organised into four sections, which consist of several research groups. About 220 researchers are employed at the department, including around 90 PhD Students. In a typical year, we educate more than 40 MSc students, and we constantly work together with the industry and public organizations to find and implement new sustainable solutions to our society in the following research areas:

• Communication and Cyber Technology
• Bio and Health Technology
• Green and Sustainable Societies
• Quantum Technology
